Search engine optimization (SEO) involves improving the findability of a website by search engines. The methods utilize the "organic" or unpaid search results, and should not be confused with paid advertising such as Google AdWords (sponsored links).
SEO is an Internet marketing strategy. It considers how search engines work, and is based on what is searched for, the search terms used, and the search engine used by searchers. Website optimization usually involves editing content, as well as the hypertext markup (HTML). The aim is to both increase keyword relevance and to streamline the search engine indexing activities. Site promotion via inbound links is a highly recommended strategy too, as it demonstrates content credibility.
